John Wesley Young by Marg Grainger

John Wesley was born at Hazeldean Ontario in 1860 and came west in 1895. He homesteaded at Pleasant Valley SE¼24-44-19. He moved to Rosthern in 1898 where he was engaged in business for 2 years, returning to Melfort and opening a confectionery store, selling it in 1906. He resumed farming operations until 1911.  He was appointed Dominion Land Agent and held that position until the office closed in 1923. He married Sarah Elizabeth Grainger, daughter of Tom Grainger, Sr. They had 2 children – Mabel (Mrs.A.C.Tapp) and Gordon. John passed away in 1932 at the age of 72 and Elizabeth in 1961 at the age of 87 years.
