=Edward Gordon Cordingley
b1862Oct17 Chester area England d1924July21VancouverBC Accountant
Born to a "well-to-do" textiles (cottons, hats etc.) family which lived in
Chester and had a factory in Manchester. Daughter Norma notes "Dad & Mother moved many times. I wonder if Dad quarreled with employees or boss. He was a bit conceited". They moved "west, first to Victoria, Toronto(1893), Nelson, BellinghamWash(1907-11), then Vancouver, Grandview, Fairview, Kitsilano, and North Vancouver. He earned a fair salary as an accountant but lived for the day - no nest egg". He apparently went quickly through the inheritances, received from his parents from 1897-1907. After a series of financial reverses and losses of property and personal effects due to fires, they moved to Bellingham WA where they weathered the economic depression 1907-1910. 1898BCvotersList shows Edward Cordingley, clerk of Nelson KootenayW
